Privacy Policy

LAN Device Bridge is a browser extension for Safari, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge that lets user-approved websites communicate with devices on a local network.

Data stored locally

The extension stores the following data in the user’s browser profile to provide its features:

This data is stored locally in the extension. The extension does not send these credentials, device lists or logs to a LAN Device Bridge server.

When a website calls device APIs

After user approval, the extension sends requests from the browser to the selected device, adds the required authentication and returns API responses to the approved website. The website may process or store responses under its own policies.

Approved websites can also receive device metadata, including username and IP/host. Stored credentials have no separate application encryption layer. The introduction website opens on first installation and its host may record ordinary web access logs.

Website and host permissions

Users choose the website origin, device and access level. Access can be revoked in extension settings. Host access is requested for the selected website and device when the user sets up a connection.

Data sharing

LAN Device Bridge does not operate a cloud service to receive, sell or share user data. API responses are provided only to user-approved websites. Review each website’s privacy policy before granting Full Device API access.

Security

Prefer HTTPS when supported, use device accounts with minimal permissions and grant Full Device API only to trusted websites. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its data removes locally stored configuration and credentials.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when features or data practices change. The latest revision date appears at the top of this page.
